The Orlando Health Heart Institute is now offering a new screening program for early detection of heart disease, called the Coronary Calcium Score screening.
A Calcium Score is a rapid, non-invasive, screening procedure used to detect calcium found in the arteries that supply the heart with blood. The presence of calcium in these arteries indicates the presence of plaque, which increases the risk for future cardiac events.
