What is Pediatric General Surgery?

Pediatric general surgery covers a broad range of procedures including minor procedures like inguinal hernias, as well as more complex procedures related to tumors, removal of spleens, gall bladders. Pediatric general surgeons use both laparoscopic (minimally invasive) and conventional surgical approaches. Arnold Palmer Hospital provides general surgery for children and adolescents, performed by pediatric fellowship-trained surgeons. These same surgeons are also pediatric trauma surgeons, and are able to handle the most complex surgical emergencies related to trauma.
