The Pediatric Faculty Practice provides inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth through adolescence with acute and chronic illnesses.  The care is directed by our team of highly qualified physicians.  In addition to providing patient care, our physicians are committed to training residents, medical students, and other healthcare providers, and developing them into the next generation of superior, caring pediatric professionals. They are also supported by a system offering constant information on the latest research in medical care, testing and surgical techniques.

Meet Our Physicians

Nicole Bramwell, MD

Medical director of the practice, undergraduate and graduate of Howard University and Howard University, College of Medicine in Washington D.C. and earned her MBA through Webster University. Completed her pediatric residency at Orlando Health and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women and became chief resident and Junior Faculty Attending of the program in 1997-1998.


Joan Younger Meek, MD

Academic Chairman and Pediatric Residency Training Program Director at Orlando Health /Arnold Palmer Medical Center. Dr. Meek was born in Knoxville, TN, received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed pediatric residency training at Duke University Medical Center and earned her MS in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Kentucky. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Board Certified as a Physician Nutrition Specialist, and is also a Registered Dietitian and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Dr. Meek holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Florida State University College of Medicine and serves as the Pediatric Clerkship Director for the Orlando campus of FSU. Dr. Meek has been published in several peer reviewed journals and is the editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatrics New Mother’s Guide to Breastfeeding, as well as a contributor to the AAP/ACOG Breastfeeding Handbook for Physicians. She is a past President of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and is active in the Breastfeeding Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, currently serving as the Chair of the Education Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. Areas of clinical interest and research activities include newborn care, infant and childhood nutrition, breastfeeding and human lactation, and childhood obesity. Dr. Meek has given many professional presentations to both regional and national audiences and made media appearances on these subjects.



David Skey, MD

Attending physician for the practice, Director of Residency Newborn Nursery Rotation with Winnie Palmer Hospital, and a National Health Service Core Scholar, graduated from Brown University Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters in Virginia and became Chief Resident of the program in 2005-2006.



Eva Desrosiers, MD

Attending physician for the practice born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and is a undergraduate from Cornell University, College of Arts and Science and Graduate of University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Completed her pediatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center/AECOM and speaks English, French and Haitian.



Penelope Tokarski, MD

Assistant Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program through Orlando Health, born and raised in Michigan and is a undergraduate of Nazareth College in Michigan and graduate of Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois. Completed her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She has been awarded the Lawton Chiles award for being a adolescent advocate, she has been published in several peer reviewed journals and has been honored with “Best Doctor” and “Top Doctor” and she is affiliated with the Society for Adolescent Medicine, Section on Adolescent Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Section on Child Abuse and Neglect, American Academy of Pediatrics.



Douglas Short, MD

Attending physician for the practice, undergraduate and graduate of the University of Florida and University of Florida Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at Shands Teaching Hospital at the University of Florida. He has a special interest in vaccines and has helped in research on the development of combination vaccines.



Vinny L. Chulani, MD, MSEd

Dr. Vinny Chulani is Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Medical Director of Teen Xpress, a mobile health program serving medically indigent youth in Orange County schools. Dr. Chulani obtained his medical degree from Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines. He completed his pediatric residency at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY where here also served as chief resident. He completed a clinical and research fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and an academic fellowship in Youth Violence Prevention through the California Wellness Foundation’s Violence Prevention Initiative. Dr Chulani has a deep interest in medical education and holds a Master of Science in Education from the University of Southern California – Keck School of Medicine. He is board certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Tagalog. An active member of the Society for Adolescent Medicine, he has spoken both nationally and internationally on a host of topics relevant to Adolescent Medicine.



Janice Howell, MD

Attending physician for the practice, undergraduate from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her pediatric residency at McGill University Faculty of Medicine/Montreal Children’s Hospital. Dr. Howell continued on at McGill University to complete a Fellow with the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical and Research Fellow with Clinical Pharmacology/Neonatology. As a post-graduate, Dr. Howell continued her education on Pediatric Asthma, Asthma Management, and the History of Asthma through the American Thoracic Society. She has spoken in several state and national conferences on “Pediatric Asthma,” has been published in peer reviewed journals, and has developed audiotapes for the American Academy of Family Physicians on how to manage pediatric asthma.



Odette Stanley-Brown, MD


Attending physician for the practice, born and raised in Jamaica and is a undergraduate from City University of New York, Hunter College, graduate of Yale University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami.



Colleen Moran-Bano, MD

Attending physician for the practice, born and raised in Orlando, Florida and is a undergraduate from the University of Notre Dame, graduate of the University of South Florida, completed her pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and completed her fellowship in Academic Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina and obtained her Masters of Science and Biometry as well. She has been publish in peer reviewed journal, spoke in national conferences on pediatric medicine and has a great interest in clinical trials.



Sunita Patil

Attending physician for the practice, raised in Orlando, Florida, undergraduate from Pennsylvania State University and graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Pennsylvania. She began her pediatric residency at University of Florida, Shands Teaching Hospital but completed the program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital/DuPont Hospital for Children in Pennsylvania.



Shirley Schue

Senior Nurse Practitioner in the practice, born and raised in Virginia, obtained bachelor and masters of science from the University of Virginia and completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Florida. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, former Nap Nap President for the Florida chapter and has spoken in national conferences on newborn care, head lice, and nutrition.



Margaret James

Senior Nurse Practitioner in the practice, born and raised in Alabama, obtained her Associate Degree of Nursing at Jefferson State Community College, Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing at Samford University, Masters of Science and Nursing from the University of Central Florida and completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Florida. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, specializes in newborn care, including patient education and lactation, and a speaker at national conferences and state conferences on nutrition, lactation and newborn care.



Wendy Yovaish

Senior Nurse Practitioner in the practice, born and raised in Orlando, FL, obtained her nursing from University of Central Florida and Masters Degree in Nursing and completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Florida. She specializes in neonatal care and has held positions as a manager of neonatal education and clinical nurse specialist. She has spoken in local conferences on neonatal topics and has been published in peer reviewed journals.



Bonnie Lanternier

Nurse Practitioner and Lactation Consultant in the practice, born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, obtained her Bachelor’s in Science in Biology at Mercer University in Georgia, completed a Genetic Counseling Training Program at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, her Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing at the University of North Florida and completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Central Florida. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Board member and treasurer of the Florida Lactation Consultant Association, and a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, United States Lactation Association, Florida Chapter of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Central Florida Advanced Practice Nursing Council. She has spoken in many conferences on breastfeeding in general, preterm infants and breastfeeding, jaundice and Down syndrome and breast feeding.
