Clerkships are four weeks in length with clinical learning experiences that are structured to allow for institutional academic elective credit to be assigned if desired.
The medical center is institutionally affiliated with the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Florida State University College of Medicine, University of Florida College of Medicine, University of South Florida College of Medicine and is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges, Council of Teaching Hospitals and the Association for Hospital Medical Education. Fully-accredited residency programs are sponsored in emergency medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, pathology, pediatrics (University of Florida sponsored), and general surgery. In addition, fully-accredited fellowship programs are sponsored in colon rectal surgery, critical care medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), hematology/oncology, infectious disease, pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric gastroenterology (University of Florida sponsored), pediatric orthopedics, pediatric sports medicine (University of Florida sponsored), and surgical critical care.

What Is the Application Process?
US medical students who have access to VSAS must complete the medical student application on VSAS Visiting Student Application Service, system as provided by the AAMC.
US medical students who do not have access to VSAS may submit a paper application. Applications may be mailed to Graduate Medical Education Administration, 86 West Underwood Street, Orlando, FL 32806, emailed to GME.Administration@orlandohealth.com or faxed to 321.843.1791.
Please note that only students enrolled at U.S. LCME accredited institutions and accredited American Osteopathic Association institutions are able to apply via VSAS. Students enrolled at LCME accredited Canadian institutions or international medical schools may find application materials as noted below.
Orlando Health will charge an application/processing fee of $50.00 per approved rotation.
The application must include a copy of the CV, transcripts, school’s medical malpractice insurance ($1,000,000 occurrence / $3,000,000 annual aggregate) and a copy of current personal health insurance. Incomplete applications will be marked as ineligible and will not be reviewed until the application is complete.
Foreign medical students must complete the same requirements as the US medical students. In addition, they must also include the CIE 701/702 form with their application. If your school holds the CIE 702 Form you are required to have Step 1 and Step 2 completed before the start of the rotation. If you fail to meet all requirements set by the CIE 701/702 Form you will not be able to start the rotation. This form is required by the State Commission for Independent Education for all foreign medical schools. Should your application be approved, final approval is contingent upon the State’s review and approval of this form. This form can be obtained by your school’s coordinator via the Florida Department of Education website.
No Incomplete applications will be accepted.
When Can I Apply?
We will begin to accept applications for the upcoming Academic Year (July 2016 to June 2017) starting March 14, 2016. Programs will not start reviewing applications until end of April 2016.
What Is The Review Timeframe?The review process timeframe will vary throughout the academic year. However, students should allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks.
How many rotations can I complete at Orlando Health?If approved you are able to complete a total of two rotations at Orlando Health.
What Are The Rotation Schedules?
Elective rotations are scheduled for a duration of four weeks. The following are the dates to be used when submitting your application. Requests outside of these dates will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the appropriate program based upon availability and need.

Is Housing Available?
The GME Office provides limited housing within walking distance of the medical complex in a shared gender divided accommodation environment. Housing is based upon availability at the time of application approval. Students from non-affiliated schools (master affiliation) are required to pay a housing fee of $400.00 per rotation. Students from schools that have a master affiliation agreement with Orlando Health will be required to pay a $50.00 non-refundable security deposit.
Housing consists of apartments with two bedrooms, two-beds each which can accommodate up to 4 students. The Apartments contain a galley kitchen with a stove and refrigerator (cooking and eating utensils are provided). Bed linens, towels and paper products are supplied and Internet service is available in the Apartments and on the Orlando Health Campus.
Housing is for students only (no spouses/children/guests/pets). Non-compliance with apartment guidelines will result in the interruption or dismissal of students from his/her elective rotation.

Student check-in is the Sunday prior to the Monday start date. Departure is on Friday by 2:00 PM the last day of your rotation unless other arrangements are made with the GME office.
