Program Director's Welcome

Justin Mullner, MD

The Orlando Health Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship is a one year, ACGME-accredited program open to physicians who have completed residency training in the fields of family medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.

The purpose of the program is to develop physicians with broad expertise across the entire spectrum of medical and orthopedic conditions encountered in the athlete.  Essential teaching, administrative and leadership skills are developed to equip fellows to be leaders in the field of sports medicine.

The fellowship is housed within the sports medicine division of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, which serves as the primary clinical site.  As of July 2023, this will be located in the brand new, stand-alone orthopedic hospital on the main downtown campus of Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center – the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. The institute was created as a part of an exciting new partnership between Orlando Health and Jewett Orthopedics.

Fellows will have training room and sideline experience in both men's and women's professional soccer with Orlando City Soccer Club and the Orlando Pride.  Fellows will also spend time at the University of Central Florida, a large NCAA Division 1 institution with a full complement of men's and women's sports as well as Division 2 Rollins College.

The fellowship is ACGME-accredited through the Orlando Health Department of Pediatrics, the PCSM NRMP code is 1107333F0.
