The Dr. P. Phillips Hospital Emergency Room (ER) is a 44-bed unit that provides emergency services 24 hours a day. The ER is staffed with people specially trained in emergency medicine including doctors, nurses, technicians, and assistants.
Triage
When arriving at the ER, it is important to evaluate each patient to determine what kind of care is required, who is the most qualified to provide the care, and the relative urgency of providing that care. People with illnesses or injuries that are immediately life-threatening take priority, of course. Serious, but not life-threatening conditions are prioritized based on severity.
Special Features
- A waiting area for children where little ones can be made more comfortable and will be less intimidated by a visit to the hospital.
- A diagnostic imaging unit to provide x-rays and other images. The unit includes a multi-slice CT scanner that provides detailed pictures that can help our doctors make more reliable diagnoses more quickly.
- Special rooms for trauma or cardiac patients.
- "Fast Track" side for minor emergencies.
