About Us

The Department of Medical Education, with its eight ACGME-residency programs and three fellowships, continues to grow as we continue to recruit top-notch faculty dedicated to service, education and research. Our goal is to educate professionals, and we have the commitment and resources to do just that.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a four-year accredited residency program designed to provide extensive experience leading to board certification. Since the program began in 1951, the board passage rates have remained at 92 percent.

The Program at Orlando Health has academic affiliations with the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida State University in Tallahassee, and the University of South Florida in Tampa. The main teaching facilities of the Department of OB/GYN are located on the Orlando Health main campus in downtown Orlando. Inpatient Clinical patients are centered in Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies and Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC).

About Winnie Palmer Hospital


Winnie Palmer Hospital is the home of the 2nd busiest Women’s Hospital in the nation. In 2017 our labor and delivery unit delivered 14,763 patients with 252 being a multigestation. Our hospital has 315 beds, 24 triage beds, 4 Women’s ICU beds, and 12 operating rooms. In 2017, our 24 triage beds allowed 45,000 triage visits! Within our triage unit we are a full service ED and have our Level 1 Trauma center right across the street. With our 12 operating rooms housing 3 Xii Robots and 2 Teaching consoles in 2017 we performed a total 3876 GYN cases, 971 Robotic cases. Winnie Palmer Hospital is proud to state we have an 84% Minimally Invasive Hysterectomy rate. In order to provide the best care for our high acuity obstetrical patients we are partnered with the largest NICU in the nation under 1 roof with 110 NICU beds. Winnie Palmer Hospital is proud of our high volume, complex patients but more importantly providing the best quality of care to all of our patients. As part of training and quality improvement residents have access to a simulation lab, robotic simulator, and participation in hospital wide committees and research projects.
