Joy Parchment, PhD, RN, NE-BC has served in the position of Director of Nursing Strategy Implementation since January of 2011 and the Magnet® program since 2012. Dr. Parchment is responsible for leading, guiding, and directing nursing and inter-professional teams to attainment of nursing and organizational strategic priorities. Prior to those executive leadership appointments, Dr. Parchment worked in various roles like: manager of clinical research, program manager for nursing and special projects, and coordinator for the associate degree nursing program at a local college. Dr. Parchment earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Andrews University in Michigan, her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Anna Maria College in Massachusetts, and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nursing from the University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida.
With over 25 years of nursing and leadership expertise and experience in ambulatory care, academia, research, and nursing administration, Dr. Parchment is board certified as a nurse executive, is a TeamSTEPPS® master trainer, a UCF Knightingale Scholar, the recipient of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE) 2015 Research Award, the FONE 2012 Scholarship award, the Florida Nurses Foundation Evelyn Frank McKnight and the Fried Norton Research Funds, and the Florida Nurses Association District 8, Nurse Excellence Award.
Dr. Parchment has served as the principal investigator and co-investigator for nursing focused studies that examined credentialing and workforce issues of clinical nurses and nurse managers. She is a an active member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the Florida Nurses Association (FNA), the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), and the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE) where she participated on the FONE Strategic Planning Committee which was tasked with creating the 2014-2015 FONE Strategic Plan. Also, Dr. Parchment holds membership in the Southern Nursing Research Society (SNRS), the Council of Graduate Education for Administration in Nursing (CGEAN), the International Association on Workplace Bullying and Harassment (IAWPBH), and Sigma Theta Tau International Theta Epsilon Chapter.
Dr. Parchment is the current president for the Central Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (CFONE) and is a member of the Florida Action Coalition Diversity Council, a statewide taskforce that has the responsibility for supporting and implementing the Robert Wood Johnson’s Future of Nursing, Campaign for Action in Florida. In addition to her committee and board responsibilities, Dr. Parchment is a mentor and preceptor for graduate nursing leadership students.
