TITLE:    Emergency Medicine

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  Fourth Year Medical Student

COURSE GOALS:  The course is designed to expose the student to patient assessment and emergency management of a large number of patients entering a metropolitan Emergency Department and Trauma Center. Instruction is centered around bedside clinical supervision by faculty and residents in a busy Emergency Department. A comprehensive didactic schedule is provided and includes conferences prepared for residents and students as well as conferences designed exclusively for students. 

COURSE MATERIALS:  Didactic conference (6 hours/week), Peer 8, Medical Student Guide to EM and Medical Student Rotation Supplement (files containing reference articles on EM topics and a procedure check list) 

METHODS OF EVALUATION: 80% clinical performance, 20% participation and attendance at lectures

LENGTH:  4 weeks

ENROLLMENT LIMITS: Eight to Twelve maximum per month
