The increase of cancer incidence and survival rates has created a new awareness of the need for rehabilitation services. At Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute our Oncology Rehabilitation programs provide comprehensive treatment and education for patients who are currently undergoing cancer treatment or have developed complications following their cancer treatment. This specialized rehabilitation program was developed in order to facilitate and maximize the patient?s healing. We strive to gradually restore the individual back to his or her highest level of independence in order to actively participate in their normal daily activities.

Our team of inpatient and out patient occupational therapist, physical therapists and speech & language pathologists work closely with your oncology medical team to provide you with the highest quality of care possible.

At Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute we offer comprehensive lymphedema therapy performed by Certified Lymphedema Therapists. Following a thorough evaluation an individualized treatment plan will be developed in collaboration with the patient, family and other health care professionals. Therapy will consist of the following:

  • Manual lymph drainage techniques
  • Compression therapy
  • Exercises
  • Education for the patient, family and caregivers to prepare them for self-management and prevention

We offer additional therapy services for Oncology patients which may include:

  • Neurological programs
  • Scar tissue management
  • Therapeutic exercise to improve mobility, endurance and decrease fatigue
  • Pain management
  • Patient and family education
