Orlando Regional Medical Center


Orlando Health is a not-for-profit, community-owned healthcare organization whose assets belong to the community as a whole. Orlando Health is governed by a community-based board of directors. Directors are recruited and selected from our 4-county service area (Orange, Osceola, Lake and Seminole) based on alignment with our core values and other criteria developed by the Governance Committee and approved by the board.

The directors serve three-year terms. In general, no director shall hold office for more than three consecutive terms. Directors are not compensated for their service on the board. The current board members are:

Ms. Morgan is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for Orlando Health. She is immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida and chairs the national board for the Children's Miracle Network. In addition, she serves on several corporate boards. She is retired from the Walt Disney World Co. where she served as Sr. Vice President of Public Affairs and Human Resources.

Dr. Shugart currently serves as president of Valencia Community College in Orlando, one of the nation's largest and most celebrated community colleges. He is widely known for his speaking and writing on servant leadership and is a published poet and songwriter. He serves as secretary of the Orlando Health Board.

David Brown, a Florida native, graduated from the University of Florida in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Accounting. In 1976, after serving in the United States Air Force, he attended the Holland Law Center and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1978. David joined Broad and Cassel in 1980 and has served as Managing Partner of the Orlando office since 1988. He became Chairman of Broad and Cassel, a preeminent statewide law firm, in 2000. The firm specializes in all aspects of commercial law serving national and Florida business communities.

As Senior Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial, Mr. Santiago has been recipient of the Advisor of the Year Award for 19 consecutive years - currently ranking as top financial advisor in Florida. He is Trustee Emeritus for the University of Central Florida. Mr. Santiago serves as treasurer of the Orlando Health Board and chairs the Finance Committee.

Ms. Chapin was Orange County's first elected Mayor, and her tenure in public office included the construction of the nation's second-largest convention center, a new courthouse, the Regional History Center, fifteen new parks and recreational trails, and the purchase of over 12,000 acres of environmentally sensitive lands. She also serves on the board of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.    
 

 
   
Sherrie Sitarik, CEO of Orlando Health Sherrie Sitarik, President and CEO, Orlando Health

Mrs. Sitarik currently serves as President and CEO of Orlando Health. She excelled in several executive roles during her 33 years with the organization, including her previous position as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Orlando Health. Mrs. Sitarik is heavily involved within the community and is a member of many local and national organizations. She is the first woman in Orlando Health's history to serve as President and CEO of the organization.

Mr. Besanceney is currently the senior vice president, Public Affairs, Walt Disney World and Worldwide Government and Industry Relations. As a leader in government and industry relations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, he is proactive in public policy. His previous experience includes service as deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the U.S. Department of State, assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, deputy communications director at the White House, communications director for former U.S. Rep. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), and as a public relations and government relations consultant.

   
John Mark Cappleman, MD, FACP

, joined the Orlando Health Board of Directors in May, 2012.  Dr. Cappleman earned his undergraduate degree from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, he is in private practice in West Orange County. Dr. Cappleman has served in leadership positions on many committees and boards including Chairman of the Board and Chief of Staff at Health Central Hospital. 
   
 Dr. Lennard Greenbaum - Orlando Health board of directors Lennard D. Greenbaum, M.D.

Dr. Greenbaum came to Orlando in 1975 to join the Medical Center Radiology Group where he is currently a Senior Partner. He's been very active at Orlando Health over the last 20 years and has served as chairman of the Orlando Health Foundation. Currently he is the Co-Director of the Hughes Center for Fetal Diagnostics at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
   
 Dr. Jamal Hakim Jamal Hakim, M.D.

A Board Certified Anesthesiologist, Dr. Hakim is Immediate Past Chief of Medical Staff at Orlando Health. He began his career at Orlando Health in 1991, specializing in pediatric anesthesia and now serves as the Director of Anesthesia for Women's Services at Arnold Palmer Medical Center. He is also President of Anesthesiologists for Greater Orlando.
   
 Joshua High, CPA - member, Orlando Health board of directors Joshua High, CPA

Mr. High is an information technology and finance consultant. He was formerly CEO of Enterprise Technology Partners, LLC and a senior corporate finance executive for Ryder System, Inc. His background includes over 35 years of business, management and governance experience. He has served on the boards of several provider and policy healthcare organizations and serves on the Board of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
   
Carolyn Karraker

Ms. Karraker was named the National Distinguished Principal for the State of Florida in 1992.  She retired from Orange County Public Schools where she was the Associate Superintendent for Elementary Education.  In subsequent private education Ms. Karraker served as Head of School for both Windermere Prep and Park Maitland School.  She has served on various community boards including chairing the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, the West Orange Committee of 101, and the Health Central Trustee Board.  Ms. Karraker is currently a Professor at Valencia College.

   
 Marilyn King - Orlando Health Marilyn M. King

Ms. King is one of the founders of the Grace Medical Center, a comprehensive medical home which brings the highest level of medical care to the uninsured poor of Orlando. She is heavily involved in community activities and has a particular interest in organizations focused on improving health and quality of life for children. Ms. King also served as Chairman of the Board for Orlando Health and currently chairs the Patient Safety, Quality and Service Excellence Committee.

Mr. Kobrin is president and owner of Kobrin Builders Supply, a family business started by his grandfather in the 1920s. Under Harvey's guidance, Kobrin Builders Supply has grown to include seven locations throughout Florida and now employs more than 220 people. 
   
 Rex V. McPherson II - Orlando Health Rex V. McPherson II

Mr. McPherson serves as President of R.D. Keene Trust (RDK), where he began work upon graduation from college in 1974. He was elected President in 1981. He concentrates his efforts in citrus operations, land utilization, legal affairs, investment strategy, property acquisition and overall strategic planning for RDK. He chairs the Real Estate Committee for the Orlando Health Board and is past chair of the board. 
   
Mark Sand, M.D.

Dr. Mark Sand is a surgeon with Cardiovascular Surgeons, P.A. since 1997. He is Board Certified in Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and holds a Certification of Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. Affiliated with Orlando Health since 1997, Dr. Sand currently serves as Chief of Medical Staff.

Gregor Alexander, M.D

Dr. Gregor Alexander joined Orlando Health in 1977 and was Director of Newborn Services and Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 1979 until July of 1995.  Dr. Alexander currently serves as the Chairman of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation and is involved in the development of a strong philanthropic and public relations program, which includes both the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.  He is also one of the Founding Fathers of the Children’s Medical Foundation of Greater Orlando.  He is on the clinical faculty at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

A 39-year banking veteran, Mr. Sandhagen is the Chairman, SunTrust Bank - Central Florida. He is actively involved in community, civic, charitable, and business groups including the Governor's council and the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission.
