Mark Vollenweider, MD is a board-certified interventional pulmonologist with the Rod Taylor Thoracic Care Center at Orlando Health Cancer Institute, where he also is part of the lung cancer and lung nodule screening program. As a leader in interventional pulmonology, Dr. Vollenweider is skilled at treating patients with conditions ranging from cancer to lung nodules and at using a variety of minimally invasive procedures and diagnostic techniques. He is expertly trained on both the Ion and robotic bronchoscopy platforms that help diagnose and treat lung issues for optimal results. These advanced robotic systems support earlier detection of lung cancer by more easily accessing the disease location and more accurately determining lesion size.

Dr. Vollenweider’s Training

Dr. Vollenweider earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, where he served as chief medical resident in his final year of the program. His fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine was performed at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.

About Dr. Vollenweider

Dr. Vollenweider is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and Florida State University in Tallahassee, and an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida. He is a frequent presenter at national conferences on pulmonary topics and has been named a "Top Doc" in pulmonary medicine by Orlando magazine annually since 2013.

He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. Additionally, he is a diplomat in interventional pulmonology with the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, and a diplomat in the areas of critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
