Stephen Kent Ball, MD, is a board-certified cardiac surgeon in practice with the Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group.
Dr. Ball earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Jackson. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Rush Presbyterian – St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago. 

Previously, Dr. Ball was in the private practice of cardiothoracic surgery at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee for 11 years. In 2007, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, where he practiced cardiac surgery until joining the Orlando Health Heart Institute in April 2017. 

Dr. Ball has published many manuscripts and abstracts in numerous professional publications including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, The Annals of Surgery, The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He has also presented for the Southern Surgical Congress, the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association
