Breast pain, called mastalgia, may be caused by fluid-filled cysts that can be drained or removed to relieve discomfort. While most breast pain is not cancer-related, your doctor may recommend a mammogram, MRI, ultrasound or biopsy if cancer is suspected.
Our breast surgical team, which includes pain management specialists, will determine the reason for your discomfort and most effective way to treat it. Whenever possible, our surgeons use minimally invasive surgery to reduce post-surgical pain, and we may recommend medication and alternative methods of pain control.
