Comprehensive Heart Failure Program
The Orlando Health Heart Institute has established one of the most advanced programs for the treatment of heart failure available anywhere.
Cardiovascular disease causes an alarmingly high number of illnesses and deficits. Among them is heart failure, which occurs when the heart can no longer efficiently pump enough blood to the rest of the body. The Orlando Health Heart Institute has established one of the most advanced programs for the treatment of heart failure available anywhere. If a patient develops symptoms that require further treatment than traditional therapies can provide, further options are available. In collaboration with University of Florida Health, we are able to improve patient outcomes with the implantation of ventricular assist devices — surgically implanted, portable pumps that are designed to extend the lives of people afflicted with heart failure, or proceed to heart transplantation if required.
Our team of heart failure experts, in collaboration with UF Health, will evaluate and decide upon the device that fits your specific needs. To prepare you and your loved ones, and to help alleviate any surgery-related anxiety, our staff will educate you on what to expect before, during and after surgery.
