Doctors may decide to give you a computerized tomography coronary angiogram, or CT angiography, to determine if you have coronary artery disease and develop the best course of treatment for you.
Depending on the type of machine we use, we may give you medication to slow your heart rate in order to get the best quality images. We will inject a dye into your body through your hand or arm to track blood flow through your heart, and attach electrodes to your chest to monitor your heart rate. The scan is conducted as you lie on a table and move through a device that takes X-ray pictures.
