Ball-handling sports are the most common cause of finger dislocations. Our doctors can usually relocate your finger quickly, and will also assess whether you have any other damage. They’ll develop a pain management and treatment plan based on the extent of your injury.
After resetting your finger, our doctors may order X-rays to see if you also have a fracture or joint damage. You may have to wear a finger splint or tape for a few weeks. In the rare case that you don’t regain joint stability, we may recommend surgical repair by our board-certified orthopedic surgeons, who are specially trained in hand surgery.
