We provide services for adolescents, adults and seniors. Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute is a state designated Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program (BSCIP) facility.
The licensed therapists and medical staff at Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute are specialty trained in several areas in order to maximize the rehabilitation potential of each patient. We offer cognitive therapy, driving evaluations performed by a Certified Driving Rehabilitation Specialist, wheelchair and seating assessments, adaptive equipment assessments, home evaluation for modifications and equipment recommendations, a wellness program and much more. Assistive technology professionals work with local vendors to evaluate patients for custom wheelchairs, standing frames, shower chairs and additional durable medical equipment.
Our state-of-the-art equipment includes:
NeuroCom Smart Equitest
Team conferences are held weekly with a combination of clinicians and support staff to discuss each patient’s progress. The medical teams set an individualized plan of care to assist the patient’s return to his/her daily responsibilities after an injury.
At Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute, we emphasize the importance of community reentry. Encouraging patients to return to their roles in society is an important part of rehabilitation and recovery. Support groups facilitated by our therapists and staff are available for patients and their families. The groups are designed for the patients to interact with others who have similar diagnosis to help them learn, share and cope. Our patients are encouraged to participate in monthly activities with The Greater Orlando Spinal Cord Injury Network, a group with a mission to promote community reintegration. These activities may include dinner, bowling, fishing or picnics.
