Intracranial stenosis is a narrowing of the artery that leads to your brain and spine. Treatment will depend on the severity of your condition and symptoms. Our goal is to reduce your risk for a stroke.
Our neurologists may begin by recommending medication and encouraging you to make lifestyle changes. We may put you on aspirin or other blood thinners to keep clots from forming and prescribe statins to prevent plaque buildup in your arteries. If your symptoms do not respond to medication, we may recommend neurosurgery to remove or reduce plaque and enlarge your artery so more blood can flow to your brain.
