Little League shoulder is an injury to the growth plate in the shoulder, which can be caused by too much throwing or a lack of muscle strength and endurance. Our goal is to make sure your child’s shoulder heals properly. We also will work to strengthen your child’s shoulder and develop a plan to help him or her prevent future injury.

Overview

Rest may be the primary treatment for your child’s growth plate fracture. We also could recommend anti-inflammatory medications, ice and a sling or brace to stabilize your child’s shoulder while it heals. Once the growth plate has healed, we could prescribe physical therapy to strengthen your child’s shoulder and back muscles. In rare cases, surgery could be necessary.
