Injuries to the pectoralis major tendon, which connects the large chest muscle to the arm bone, are most common among weight lifters and occur in sports such as rugby, football, wrestling and hockey. Steroid use can weaken this tendon.
Pectoralis Major Tendon Injury
We will examine your chest for bruising and visible injury. We may suggest an MRI or ultrasound screening to determine whether you suffered a pectoralis major tendon strain, tear or rupture. If your injury is minor, we may recommend physiotherapy. A rupture may require surgery, immobilization in a sling and rehabilitation.
