Our experienced doctors will use a colonoscope, a flexible tube about the width of a finger with a small video camera attached, to see the lining of the large intestine, or colon.
Before the colonoscopy, we will provide instructions on how to prepare, which may include drinking clear liquids and taking laxatives. We may give your child a pain reliever and a sedative or anesthesia before inserting the colonoscope. We also may take tissue samples. Typically, children feel well enough to resume normal activities the day after the procedure.
