Peroneal tendinopathy is the degeneration and micro-tearing of the tendons that run along the outside part of the ankle. You can experience peroneal tendinopathy if you run, play soccer, impact sports or ski or and suddenly twist your ankle or foot.
We may recommend X-rays to rule out other causes of injury, and an MRI or ultrasound to determine tendon damage. If your damage is serious, you will need to surgery to repair the tendons. For less severe injuries, we may suggest rest, pain relievers, a corticosteroid injection or physiotherapy.
