The rotator cuff is a group of tendons and muscles that surround the shoulder joint. A rotator cuff tear can be painful, but early treatment can prevent your symptoms from getting worse. Our goal is to manage your pain and help your shoulder heal so you can resume your normal routine more quickly. We also will diagnose the underlying cause of your injury to help you prevent further tendon damage.
Depending on the extent of your tear, we may prescribe anti-inflammatory medication for the pain and a sling or brace to stabilize your shoulder while you heal. Our physical therapists may use ultrasound or massage along with gentle stretching exercises to increase your range of motion. We also may recommend a cortisone shot. If you have significant damage, we may suggest minimally invasive surgery.
