Our sports medicine doctors will diagnose the extent of your injury and help determine what factors may be contributing to your knee pain. Your treatment may include physical therapy, medication or minimally invasive surgery to remove damaged cartilage or to realign your kneecap. Our goal is get you active and help you prevent further cartilage damage.


The damage to the cartilage under your kneecap may heal with rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medicine. Our sports medicine specialists may also recommend exercises to improve your strength and balance, as well as non-weight bearing exercises like swimming or riding a stationary bike. In severe cases, we may recommend arthroscopic surgery to cut out your damaged cartilage or release tense ligaments.
