If you have stretched or torn shoulder ligaments, you may be able to treat the sprain at home with rest and ice. Our sports medicine and orthopedic experts will recommend the best treatment to heal your injury and prevent further damage to your shoulder.
We may prescribe anti-inflammatory medications for your pain and a sling or brace to stabilize your shoulder while you heal. Our physical therapists may use ultrasound, massage or gentle stretching exercises to increase your range of motion. If you have significant damage to the ligaments or surrounding structures, we may recommend arthroscopic surgery, which reduces pain and recovery time.
