A ventral hernia develops at a thin spot in the abdominal muscle caused by previous abdominal surgery, childbirth, birth defect or physical stress. Our treatment approach will depend on your condition, and may involve outpatient surgery to repair the damage and prevent complications.
We will recommend one of two procedures: open repair surgery, in which we make an incision for access to your hernia, or minimally invasive laparoscopy surgery. Hernia surgeries take about one hour to perform and generally do not require an overnight stay in the hospital. In either procedure, our team will use stitches or mesh to reinforce the abdomen wall.
