What is the difference between a psychiatrist, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, a licensed clinical social worker, a licensed clinical social worker and licensed mental health counselor?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who provides psychiatric evaluations and prescribes medication. An advanced registered nurse practitioner provides psychiatric evaluations and prescribes medication under the supervision of a physician. Licensed social workers and licensed mental health counselors are masters level clinicians who provide therapy.

How often do I have to attend and for how long?

Depending upon your individual situation, you and your clinician will discuss and agree upon recommended frequency. This will be influenced by your needs and progress, to be continually assessed.

Do I have to receive medication if I come to a behavioral specialist provider?

No, not necessarily. You and the clinician will discuss and decide during the evaluation, if medication is recommended.

What if I don’t have insurance or you don’t accept my insurance?

We offer a self-pay rate for patients who are unable to use insurance.
