As vice president of quality and clinical transformation for Orlando Health, Thom is responsible for implementing strategies to support the organization’s goal to achieve high-performing quality and safety, and become a Watson 100 Top Hospitals/15 Top Health Systems organization. Since his 2015 appointment, Orlando Health has been recognized for its quality and patient safety excellence with numerous accolades from U.S. News & World Report, the Leapfrog Group, The Joint Commission and the Florida Hospital Association.
Since joining Orlando Health in 2009, Thom has served the organization in various capacities. As chief quality officer of Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, he was chairman of the facility’s Bio Ethics Committee and created the hospital’s first Collaborative Quality Council and first Physician Quality Improvement Committee. He also is a family medicine physician with Orlando Health Physician Associates.
Thom is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and served as chief resident for family medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
