Should You Be Screened?

You should be screened for lung cancer if you meet ALL these conditions:

  • You are between 50-80 years of age.

  • You have a 20 pack-year history of smoking (this means 1 pack a day for 20 years, 2 packs a day for 10 years, etc.). If your smoking history is less than this, you may still be eligible for screening.

  • You are a current smoker or have quit within the past 15 years

If you have a family history of lung cancer or may have been exposed to cancer-causing elements, such as asbestos or radon gas, talk with your doctor about whether you need regular screenings.
