Hospital Patients, Local PGA Tour Golfers Say Thanks to Arnold Palmer

ORLANDO, FL (February 22, 2013) – With less than a month until the start of tournament week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, hospital patients and three local PGA Tour golfers came together at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to say thank you to Arnold Palmer.

Current and past patients of the hospital along with professional golfers Brian Davis, Brian Gay, and D.A. Points recognized Arnold Palmer and his legacy of helping children and families in this community since the opening of Arnold Palmer Hospital in September 1989.

“The Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard is a very exciting time for us as buzz for the tournament starts to build around the community,” stated John Bozard, president of Arnold Palmer Hospital. “It allows us opportunities to highlight some of the hospital’s amazing stories of courage and compassion that are possible only because of Mr. Palmer’s continuing commitment to ensuring children, women, and families receive the best care.”

During the gathering, Bozard announced the inaugural Arnie’s March for Children’s Cancer, a walk around the course at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge to raise awareness and funds for children’s cancer. The walk will take place Tuesday, March 19 at 4:00 P.M. and will be led by Brian Davis, Brian Gay, and D.A. Points – PGA golfers whose families have experienced the care of Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.

The gathering concluded with the presentation of a giant signature wall bearing the iconic logo of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard. Hospital patients and the golfers were among the first to sign the wall and write a message of thanks for Arnold Palmer. The wall will be on tour throughout Orlando, making stops at locations including Orlando City Hall and the Mall at Millenia, allowing Central Florida residents to sign the wall and write a personal message to Palmer.
