Orlando Health acquires nearly 80 acres in Lakeland

WHAT:         Orlando Health successfully completed the purchase of 79.6 acres of land on the south side of Lakeland, Fl.

WHEN:         Orlando Health closed on the property Tuesday, November 10, 2020

WHERE:      The property is immediately south of the Polk Parkway on the east side of Lakeland Highlands Road.

BACKGROUND:

Orlando Health announced plans to purchase the land in January and has since worked with its previous owner – prominent realtor and land owner, Edward Hollow – Lakeland officials and planners, as well as members of the community to ensure future development will meet the needs of Lakeland and nearby communities in Polk County.

The property is part of a long-term, phased plan to provide high quality, outcomes-based healthcare to the area. The City of Lakeland’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code allow for construction of a health and wellness campus that includes up to a 360-bed hospital, ambulatory surgical center, medical office space, a small hotel, and limited supporting retail. Development of the property and timing will be based on the needs of the community.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
