Orlando Health Opens Community Grant Program to Central Florida

The program provides grants to address health and wellness needs in the community and will place an emphasis on addressing health inequities

Orlando, FL (September 7, 2021) – Orlando Health opened the 2022 cycle of the Orlando Health Community Grant Program on September 7, 2021. As part of its ongoing commitment to Central Florida, the program offers competitive grants to assist local organizations and Orlando Health team members in their efforts to improve health and wellness in the region.

These grants are one way that Orlando Health is investing back into the Central Florida region by supporting important work that enhances the community with a focus on initiatives that address health inequities. The Orlando Health Community Grant Program awarded more than $350,000 in its last cycle. Grant recipients received funding for programs that addressed needs identified in the 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Many of the programs that received grants assist families and residents who are facing food insecurity, health inequities, socioeconomic challenges and have limited access to healthcare services.

“This program is just one of the ways we’re able to further support the impactful work organizations are doing to improve the health of our communities throughout Central Florida,” said Lainie Fox Ackerman, assistant vice president, Orlando Health External Affairs and Community Benefit. “By joining forces with partners to address important health needs, we can ensure a healthier future for the communities we serve.”

The submission process for organizations interested in applying for a grant takes place in two phases. Applicants must submit a letter of intent by September 17, 2021, through the form found on Orlando Health’s Community Grant Program website. Once completed, the form can be emailed to [email protected]. A limited number of applicants will receive an invitation to participate in the second phase of the process and must submit a grant proposal by October 29, 2021. Applicants can apply for grants between the suggested amounts of $500 and $50,000. The chosen initiatives will last for 12 months and grantees will be required to report outcomes that show the impact within the community.

As part of the requirements for submitting applications, initiatives must align with the 2019 CHNA, an assessment conducted every three years. This assessment uses comprehensive data collection and analysis to identify key health needs and issues in communities across the Central Florida region.
