12:46 p.m. 9/10/17 Team Member Update - Lockdown Announced

All Orlando Health facilities will go into full lock down at 5:00 pm, Sunday, Sept. 10 to allow safe passage home, or to a shelter, before county curfews become effective.

Should those curfew times change we will adjust our lock down schedule accordingly.

This lock down applies to all hospital and ancillary facilities. Remember, Orlando Health hospitals and facilities are not shelters.

3:51 p.m. Team Member Update

Good afternoon. Local government officials in Orange and Seminole Counties have advised us that a curfew for the greater Orlando area has not yet been established. Current estimates regarding a possible curfew are for sometime late Sunday, Sept. 10 through mid-Monday Sept 11.

Based on current projections for the storm’s impact in Orlando, other area hospitals have revised their emergency response team’s arrival to 7:00 am on Sunday, Sept. 10.

11:30 a.m. Team Member Update

Good morning everyone. Thankfully, Hurricane Irma’s slowed approach over Cuba and failure to turn yet has given us more time to determine the actions necessary to keep our patients and team members safe during the storm.

Orlando Health’s Emergency Management team has been actively monitoring the movement of Hurricane Irma through close and continuous collaboration with officials at the National Weather Service. They are providing us with the most up-to-date information and projections about timing for the storm’s impact in Central Florida. Senior Vice President Andy Gardiner and our Government Affairs team have worked directly with Government officials in the Central Florida Area; and President & CEO David Strong has had several calls with Governor Rick Scott.

Based on the reliable information we are receiving from the National Weather Service and local officials, the storm’s greatest impact in our area will be from 4:00 pm Sunday – 4:00 pm Monday with peak winds currently estimated between midnight Sunday and 8:00 am Monday. All team members who have been selected to work HERT during this storm should report to their hospitals at 7:00 am on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Team members working HERT should clock in using the HERT button. There is no need to clock in/out for meal periods or sleep time while HERT is activated. Please contact your leader if you have any questions about your HERT assignment.

Most of our hospitals are currently accepting transfers from some West Coast hospitals. Thank you for allowing us to be a system for which other hospitals can count on. Further updates and decisions will be communicated to you promptly over the next few days.
