Scripts Pharmacy at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Now Open

Onsite Pharmacy Increases Convenience for Patients and Team Members

St. Petersburg, FL (February 22, 2021) –Today, hospital leaders and team members cut the ribbon to officially open Scripts Pharmacy at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Team members were invited to stop by the pharmacy to meet the team and hospital leaders who were in attendance. In addition to the ribbon cutting, an open house was held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for team members to visit the pharmacy and ask questions.

“We are so pleased to offer patients and team members at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg a convenient location to pick up their medication,” said Roxanne Blanchard, director, retail pharmacy. “We look forward to assisting patients with their discharge medications and team members with their prescription and over-the-counter needs.”

The pharmacy team will work closely with prescribing doctors and caregivers to support the medical needs of patients. They will be in communication with prescribing physicians so that patients can receive additional guidance related to their medication and overall recovery. One of the primary reasons patients are readmitted to a hospital is lack of access to prescribed medications.

“This is an important step for our hospital as we continue to find new ways to provide more comprehensive and convenient healthcare for our patients,” said Bayfront Health St. Petersburg President John Moore. “For some, a lack of reliable transportation and tight schedules make it difficult to reach a local pharmacy. Our in-house, Scripts Pharmacy provides access to our patients as they are discharged, helping them to continue on their road to recovery.”

In addition to supporting patients with their medical needs, the pharmacy will also serve as an educational tool for aspiring pharmacists that enter Bayfront Health St. Petersburg’s pharmacy residency program.  The residency program serves as a training opportunity for future pharmacists looking to augment their education with real world experience.

“As part of our commitment to increase educational opportunities, we are excited about our onsite pharmacy,” shared LaTasha Barnes, chief financial officer for Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. “The pharmacy is an extension of the work our team members do. We’re happy knowing our patients will receive the complete care they deserve before they leave our hospital.”

The pharmacy is located on the first floor of the hospital and will be operated by Bayfront Health St. Petersburg team members, licensed pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to ensure the safest and most effective use of prescribed medication. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
