Health Equity
Health Providers Train the Trainer Program
Health equity is when everyone has fair and equal access to the best health possible.
Not all people experience healthcare in the same way, causing inequities in the way people are treated for their health. The healthcare we receive, genetics, behavioral factors, and social factors all predict our health potential, but genetics are the only factor that cannot be changed. These outside factors can affect health outcomes for groups of individuals, creating health inequities. The Health Equity: Health Providers Train the Trainer Program will help healthcare providers understand health equity concerns, increase overall cultural competency, and implement actions in the workplace to minimize health disparities. The overall goal of the program is to train 3,000 healthcare providers across Florida to transform their practices and care of patients, thus elevating the health of the communities they serve.
This six week program lasts approximately 10 hours, with two live sessions and six web-based self-guided modules. The curriculum focuses on health equity and recognizing disparities across multiple subgroups, including people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people of different abilities, people of different ages, people of different cultures and religions, and people of different socio-economic status. The first live session introduces health equity and disparities data to the learner, the web-based modules each focus on one of the topics shown below, and the final live session explores adult learning, facilitation skills, and workplan building to take the training program back to your home organization.
