Orlando Health Named 2018 Most Wired by CHIME

Orlando, FL (November, 02 2018) – Orlando Health has further cemented its reputation in providing superior patient care through receiving the 2018 Most Wired distinction from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), which now administers the nationwide survey in its 20^th year.

The 2018 CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired award recognizes Orlando Health’s ongoing commitment to integrate technology in a meaningful way, to improve the delivery of care to patients in Orlando and throughout Central Florida. The hospital received the coveted recognition at the CHIME Fall CIO Forum held in San Diego over a four-day period from Oct. 30 to Nov. 02.

“Information technology capabilities are essential to enabling Orlando Health in the delivery of the best patient care services to the community.  The IT team members should be proud of the role they play and how they perform, which has been recognized by this CHIME Most Wired award for the fifth year in a row,” said Novlet Mattis, chief information officer for Orlando Health.

This latest Most Wired award is not the first for Orlando Health, however. The organization has won the award almost a dozen times with the most recent being 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Amongst the initiatives adopted this year that allowed IT to maintain this honor in an increasingly competitive space were an increase in leveraging data analytics, improving patients’ access to their health records, and enhancing cybersecurity to include conducting audits and training.

The survey is based on four key areas: infrastructure; business and administrative management; clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration. Unlike past surveys that tracked the adoption of healthcare IT by hospitals and health systems, this year’s revised survey highlights strengths and gaps in the sector, providing even greater detail and validation of the high level of service offered by the Orlando Health. CHIME, which began managing the program in April 2018, redesigned the survey with a goal to identify not only best practices, but also to promote the strategic use of healthcare IT to elevate the health and care of communities around the world.

For 2018, 647 organizations representing 2,190 hospitals from nine countries participated in the Most Wired program. CHIME named 254 organizations as Most Wired recipients this year. The survey was launched in late March and closed the middle of June.
