Dr. McMahan is a board-certified neonatal-perinatal medicine physician at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. He serves as the program director for the University of Florida Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer. In addition, Dr. McMahan is the director of the Neonatal Delivery Room Team, is an active member of the Tiny Baby Collaborative and serves on the Pharmacotherapy and Infection Control Committees.
Dr. McMahan earned his medical degree at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. He completed a pediatric residency, a neonatal-perinatal fellowship and a research scholarship at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1989 until 1995, when he moved back home to Orlando. He joined the neonatal team at Orlando Health and the NICU that is now housed at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer.
Dr. McMahan is a recipient of the resident teaching award and enjoys teaching, particularly in his areas of academic interest: respiratory physiology, respiratory care, neonatal nutrition, and pre and probiotics. Dr. McMahan has been blessed with his wife Sally, five wonderful children and four grandchildren. He enjoys photography, scuba diving, woodworking, traveling and spending as much time as possible with his family.
