Dr. Jed Schortz is a board-certified gynecologic surgeon at the Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies Center for Advanced Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He has a special interest in and treats conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, adenomyosis and painful menstrual cycles.
Dr. Schortz is specialty fellowship trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including advanced laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery, as well as operative and office hysteroscopy. Benefits of minimally invasive surgery can include small incisions, offering less post-operative pain, low risk of infection, shorter or no hospital stay, less blood loss and quicker recovery.
Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Schortz served as medical director for his specialty practice, as well as director for his hospital's center for excellence in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Schortz also has been honored by the Surgical Review Corporation, an internationally recognized nonprofit patient safety organization.
He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of the American College of Surgeons. His professional memberships include the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Surgeons, and Society of Robotic Surgeons.
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, traveling, exercising, Formula 1 racing and reading about history.
