Resident house staff cup teams are given an hour to decorate their pumpkins which are then displayed at the hospital’s Halloween parade resident table.
Residents participate and help fundraise for local causes, including the Orlando Health Heart Walk, the Make a Wish Foundation Walk for Wishes, Arnie’s March, among other community events.
Third year retreats are a weekend long and are based around the group’s preferences for activities. Previous years have gone to theme parks, boating, Dave and Busters, and chocolate making.
Every December, Dr. Moorjani invites the residency program to her home and we have a holiday party. It is tradition that all third years are given the night off to attend the party.
The first year retreat is combined with UF Gainesville and UF Pensacola programs. For 2018, UF Orlando won the Golden Diaper award!

Residents dress up and participate in the Halloween Parade, handing out goodies to children and their families. Patients were excited to meet our princesses!
All hospital staff is welcome to wear superhero costumes or shirts on Saturdays!
We have various wellness events throughout the year. The Fourth Thursday event takes place every 4 weeks. Residents gather at a new restaurant to try and the program provides appetizers to celebrate the end of the block.
On Friday mornings, the program provides breakfast for morning report. This has included breakfast casseroles, pancakes, bagels, donuts, pastries and more. It’s always fun to celebrate the end of the week!
Residents have presented at various conferences, including the American Academy of Pediatrics conference, Society for Critical Care Medicine, American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, The Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FCAAP), and The Orlando Health Quality Retreat, among others. Residents have also participated yearly in the FCAAP Brain Bowl.
Residents have the opportunity to take a Global Health elective. Residents have gone on International trips to Belize, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, and other countries.
