Boston Diagnostic Imaging-Orlando earns reaccreditation

Orlando, FL (April 8, 2016) – Boston Diagnostic Imaging – Orlando has been reaccredited by the American College of Radiology. The center, which resumed its mammography program in January, has been operating under interim certification. The accreditation of the Orange Avenue facility’s program comes after extensive process and procedural improvements. Changes include equipment upgrades, the addition of several new board certified radiologists, enhanced training for technologists, and new quality assurance reviews and oversight.

“Patients and their physicians can be certain that the center is now delivering consistent, high quality care,” said Greg Ohe, senior vice president of ambulatory for Orlando Health. “We regret any inconvenience the temporary suspension of the program may have caused.”

Orlando Health and Medical Center Radiology Group formed a company to purchase five Boston Diagnostic Imaging facilities in December 2014. The Orlando center’s mammography program was suspended in July 2015 after regulators found irregularities in scans dating back to 2013.

“As new owners of the facility, we realized that most of the mammograms involved took place prior to our ownership. Nevertheless, we were committed to doing what was right for patients,” added Mr. Ohe.

The incident was confined to the mammography program at the Orange Avenue facility. No other services at that facility were affected. All services at the four other facilities remained and continue to be accredited and fully operational.
