HERT Enrollment is Now Open!

The Atlantic Hurricane Season started on June 1. Team members interested in becoming a part of the Hospital Emergency Response Team (HERT) should have a discussion with their managers by Friday, June 29, and review the HERT expectations listed in the policy.

All team members need to re-enroll for the HERT team for 2018, even if you were a part of the HERT team in 2017. Orlando Health HERT members are expected to be available when a disaster or catastrophic event or incident occurs within the community.

Orlando Health’s HERT policy ensures the continuity of quality medical and emergency care for our patients in the instance of an emergency that disrupts the flow of service at Orlando Health. Team members selected for HERT will be identified in PeopleSoft by their manager.

(This process does not include Health Central Hospital and South Lake Hospital since they conduct separate enrollments for their sites.)

In 2018, hourly team members who work a HERT event receive double-base rate pay for all hours on premises during the emergency. Salaried team members who work during HERT activation will receive regular salary. Hospital leadership and the Chief Human Resources Officer will determine whether additional time off may be granted for salaried HERT team members following each event. For additional compensation details refer to the Policy.

Any questions regarding HERT policy and procedures can be directed to the HR Solutions Center at 321.841.8623.
