National Time Out Day is Wednesday, June 13

Wednesday, June 13 is National Time Out Day, an event that draws attention to the need for everyone on the surgery team or in any procedural area to pause before the procedure begins in order to make sure they are operating on the right patient, the right site and they are performing the right procedure.

At Orlando Health, a safe surgery/procedural checklist is used during each phase of a procedure to help ensure that important safety steps are always followed. The checklist, based on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Safe Surgery program, provides team members and physicians with a simple and efficient set of high priority checks that promote effective teamwork and communication during a procedure.

Today, tomorrow and every day, take a “time out” for every patient, every time!
