Bio
Anthony Rongione, MD, is a board-certified cardiac and thoracic surgeon with the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute. He specializes in minimally invasive aortic valve procedures, TAVR, aortic root and aneurysm procedures with a focus on advanced heart failure, including mechanical circulatory support (LVAD) and transplantation. He also has vast experience in performing coronary artery bypass surgery (arterial revascularization) and a particular interest in bloodless cardiac surgery.
Experienced Cardiac and Vascular Care
Narrow or blocked arteries, known as coronary artery disease, are a common condition and require experienced cardiac and vascular care from a board-certified surgeon like Dr. Rongione. Patients with advanced coronary artery disease may experience a severe cardiac event such as intense chest pain, heart attack or stroke and require emergency attention.
Whether it is a scheduled or emergency procedure, Dr. Rongione provides patients the most current surgical treatments available. For many patients, minimally invasive procedures, including angioplasty and stents, are appropriate, while others may require bypass surgery or another more invasive intervention.
Dr. Rongione’s Training
Dr. Rongione earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, followed by an internship and residency in general surgery at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He then completed specialization in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Washington, School of Medicine in Seattle.
About Dr. Rongione
As an accomplished member of the medical community, Dr. Rongione has served as an investigator for eight clinical trials; written nearly 50 abstracts plus a book chapter; published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals; and presented at medical conferences across the country.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
