Barry Kaplan, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with Orlando Health Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Institute Neurosurgery Group. He performs routine and complex procedures of the brain and spine, including stereotactic and oncological neurosurgery. He also has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery.

Specialized Neurological Care

Dr. Kaplan provides a level of highly specialized neurological care, which requires extensive training to diagnose and treat complex diseases and disorders. Along with the institute's experienced team, he performs complex surgeries, including cerebrovascular, spine and spinal cord, pediatric, brain tumors and radiosurgery, to name a few. Additionally, he treats patients with a wide range of needs and conditions such as epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm.

Committed to making each patient's experience as comfortable as possible, he carefully explains procedures step-by-step and implements a treatment plan with the help of his team.

Dr. Kaplan's Training

Dr. Kaplan earned both his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. A Gator from start to finish, he completed his postdoctoral training at UF with an internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery.

About Dr. Kaplan

Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Kaplan founded and served as the president of the Ocala Neurosurgical Center. Among his other professional accomplishments, he has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals such as the Journal of Neurosurgery and Surgical Neurology International.

Dr. Kaplan is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a member of the Florida Neurological Society and American Association of Neurologic Surgeons.
