Cara is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. She is assistant director of the APP fellowship program and works alongside cardiologists in the general cardiology, advanced heart failure and electrophysiology departments and trains new advanced practice providers at Orlando Health. Her skills include:
- Evaluating and treating cardiac patients
- Ordering and interpreting medical tests
- Providing patient education
- Prescribing medications
As a cardiology physician assistant, she educates and empowers patients to change their habits to minimize the aftereffects of heart disease.
Having spent seven years as an exercise specialist in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation before becoming a physician assistant, Cara knows the importance of educating her patients on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle in addition to taking their medications in order to achieve the best possible medical outcomes. She considers the Latin phrase, “Primum non nocere” – meaning first, do no harm – to be her patient care philosophy.
Cara’s Training
She earned an associate degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and health promotion from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Cara received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Cara is certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and American College of Cardiology.
Outside of work, Cara enjoys baseball, soccer, martial arts, the beach and playing games with her husband and two children.
