David L. Sustarsic, MD, is a board-certified vascular surgeon with Orlando Health Medical Group FHV Health. He treats patients with arterial blockages, who have been referred by their primary care physician or experienced a severe cardiac event necessitating emergency care.
Vascular Surgery Specialist
Significant arterial blockages require the care of a vascular surgery specialist such as Dr. Sustarsic. To restore blood flow to affected areas, he and his team move quickly to identify the location of the blockage and perform the appropriate procedure. While many blockages can be treated with minimally invasive surgery, others require more complex procedures like bypass surgery. Procedures he performs include:
- AAA stenting
- Carotid endarterectomy
- Defibrillator implantation
- Dialysis access
- Endovascular intervention
- Pacemaker implantation
- Peripheral arterial vascular surgery
Diagnostic Testing
Often patients are unware of an arterial blockage until they begin to experience a variety of symptoms ranging from leg pain to complete loss of circulation. Diagnostic testing is critical to swift, accurate identification of these blockages. Testing may include one or more of the following:
- Angiography
- Blood pressure comparison of arms and legs
- Ultrasound
- Ankle-Brachial Index
- Blood vessel MRI
- Blood tests
