Fanor Manuel Saavedra-Pozo, MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in disorders and injuries to the spine, spinal cord and nerves.
Expert Spinal Care
Painful, complex and life-threatening spinal conditions or injuries require the expert spinal care of a highly trained neurosurgeon like Dr. Saavedra-Pozo. He cares for patients with spinal tumors, deformity, fractures, injuries and more.
While each patient is different, surgery may not be the first treatment option. To begin, Dr. Saavedra-Pozo may recommend a non-surgical approach such as physical therapy, prescription medication management and injections. If it becomes clear non-surgical treatments are insufficient, surgery may be necessary.
One surgical approach is minimally invasive surgery, which is performed with precision robotics using a small incision to access and treat the problem area. With today's advanced equipment and techniques, Dr. Saavedra-Pozo is able to operate with the highest level of accuracy. After minimally invasive surgery, patients typically experience less pain and a shorter recovery time.
Conditions Dr. Saavedra-Pozo treats include:
- Spine degenerative disc disease
- Herniated discs (cervical, thoracic, lumbar)
- Vertebral spine tumors
- Spinal cord tumors
- Spinal fractures
- Spinal stenosis
- Neurogenic claudication
- Myelopathy
- Radiculopathy
- Spondyloisthesis
