Fernando Hernandez, MD, is a board-certified internist and has been practicing general internal medicine in Orlando since 1980. For the past eight years, he has practiced office-based general internal medicine at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. His areas of interest include cardiovascular diseases, Type 2 diabetes and lipid disorders, although he has extensive experience in most areas of internal medicine. Dr. Hernandez has been affiliated with Orlando Health since 1980. He held the position of chief of medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center from 2000 to 2002, and he was emergency room director at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Elizabeth, N.J., from 1979 to 1980. Dr. Hernandez graduated from Valladolid Medical School, Spain, in 1976. His internal medicine residency was done at St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Barnabas Medical Center, N.J., from 1976 to 1979. He has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey.
