James Mayo, MD, is a board certified reconstructive plastic surgeon practicing at the Orlando Health Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute. He specializes in the microsurgical reconstruction of the breast, head/neck and extremities, as well as general reconstruction.   

Dr. Mayo earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. After a general surgery residency at Orlando Health, he completed a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Louisiana State University, followed by a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at New York University.

With a rich background in complex reconstruction, Dr. Mayo specializes in all types of free flap breast reconstruction, including the abdominally based DIEP flap, as well as numerous thigh-based flaps. Dr. Mayo will also combine or sack flaps to provide the optimal volume for an aesthetic reconstruction.

Dr. Mayo has worked alongside pioneers in the field of reconstructive microsurgery, and has published articles and book chapters in the areas of breast and head/neck reconstruction. He has presented on advanced breast reconstruction at several annual meetings of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
